Genealogy of the first and biggest pencil factory in Poland starts in 1889 and it is connected with Stanisław Jan Majewski and city of Pruszków near Warsaw. From the beginning the objective of the company was to produce finest quality pencils for millions of people in Poland and around the World.
During the First World War the factory was completely destroyed. Between the World Wars it was time for reconstruction and development. In 1935 technical pencil "Polonia 340" received gold medal on World Exposition in Paris. "St. Majewski S.A." pencil factory began to be one of the finest and leading European pencils and writting materials manufacturers.
During the Second World War factory was mainly producing pencils and taking actions against the Nazi occupation. After War, in 1948 factory was nationalized and started activity under the name "Pruszkowskie Zakłady Materiałów Biurowych". In 1995 factory was privatized and the name of the factory was restored to the original "St. Majewski S.A." pencil factory.
After nearly 50 years pencils are again produced under well known, old name "Majewski".
